damn, at this point, i'm thinking maybe I bit off more than i can chew.
saturday noon, I hop on the 135 towards gastown, check out some shops and return to my regular heckling of complex to see if they have any openings, miles asks me if i wanna work boxing day.
!!!!?!?! awesome, I tell him i'm definitely down but gotta book it off for sure before I can give my word. now on granville to hand in my puma resume and cover letter that i've been meaning to drop. chatted up an employee there and find out the manager peters been looking for more employees. this is also good. but downside is that he wasn't in that day. after I meet up with mack for a bit, we check out el kartel and he's pretty chummy with the manager and I asked where they found the dj that was spinning right then, he told me you can just call in ahead and tell them if you wanna dj, $#%&*UEWET awesome. gotta head back for work at 5.
next day around the same time I try puma again to see if peter was in and surely he was. I leave with an interview for next week. fck yeah, that made my day.
then off to complex and miles wants me to do a couple weekends too? damn, well I can't say no so I thank him.
peep this vinyl store I walk by and chat with the owner, DJ david 'love' jones. real cool guy and at this point I think he knows every song ever created. he saw me dig through some old school breaks and suggests some. pick up two records; "it's just begun" and "super duper duck breaks". then I was off to work at 4 =/.
on the way home I was thinking, how great it must feel to own a record shop. I guess these days not so great economic-wise, but you're doing what you love and you're buried in crates and crates of records.
AFTER work I was reunited with my turntables. spun for hours and loved every second of it.
now i'm off to the dentist to get a cavity filled =/.
what a weekend.

remember...
the past weekend i've been completely submerged in the 9th annual Zoom film contest.
for those that don't know the zoom contest requires students in groups to plan, shoot and edit an entire short film in 48 hours.
staying up until 4am, didn't feel like 4am at all if i'm busy editting. as ryan and i were talking about how i was in the zombified state when he called in the middle of the session. that groove you get in, i've been without it for awhile and i realize how much i miss it.
i'll admit, i've gotten a bit lethargic on the film front, which at this point i see myself doing in future. but even moreso after watching The Shining by Stanley Kubrick with chris and cynthia tonight sparked it even futher. great movie and for awhile i've been meaning to watch it. its even better when you have good friends to watch it with. so this year i'm going no holds barred in my senior year with this film program i'm lucky to be enrolled in.
as for the title serving a double meaning;
it is remembrance day, so show some respect.
and remember, remember why you do it.
peace.
